42. Affordable Housing & Pet Rescue with Kym Iffert, Crossroads Campus. I had such a blast talking with Kim Iffert from @CrossroadsPets on the podcast this week.

Crossroads Pets is part of Crossroads Campus, which is a multifaceted social enterprise and nonprofit supporting the Nashville area.

Crossroads includes a pet rescue, affordable housing, internships, job training, a retail shop, a grooming facility, and humane education outreach! They bring together people and animals and through that strong human-animal bond have seen incredible transformations.

As our charity of the month, we're coming together as a community to like and support them on social media. You can follow them at @CrossroadsPets and $5 for everything sold in our Etsy shop this month will be donated too.

SIMPLE IDEA:

Wait for consent. When it comes to animals, they need to have a voice. Before we start changing things, pay attention to what they are doing, their body language, and what they’re saying before we make a move. This easily applies to humans as well. Patience. Stop. Observe.

40. Farm Animal Protection in Japan. Maho Uehara Cavalier from @humaneleaguejapan sat down to talk to me about her work helping farm animals in her country.

Maho meets with corporations to influence them to purchase cage free eggs. She also works with egg producers to influence them to produce more cage free eggs, to provide to the market.

Simple idea:
Look at the food on our plate and think about where it came from. And clean up the origin as much as possible.

I learned a couple of years ago that animal fat is often used in liquid laundry detergent. I switched to @charlies_soap powder detergent and not only did I escape the animal fat, I witnessed a miracle in my front load washer. It was constantly smelling SO bad, and it would have sticky gunk in the front. Have you guys had this problem? After about 5 years of cleaning and trying to get rid of that constantly I discovered a blog post about the animal fat (I wish I knew who had written that post because it changed my life). We moved to powder detergent and explored a few. I ultimately found Charlie's, and we've been SO happy with it! I'd say it's been 2-3 years now of laundry bliss. Thank you @charlies_soap 😊

I have no idea if this is good or not, but it made me smile today to see us in the top 100 Personal Journal podcasts in New Zealand! AND the top 100 Society & Culture podcasts in South Africa!
