Cute Trucker Hat with Hemp & Recycled Plastic

I’ve wanted to find a cute trucker hat for a long time.  But year after year the months seemed to pass without my taking time to look.  And now that I’m trying to buy everything eco conscious, buying a hat has become a project!  But the good news is that my hunt led me to not only a hemp hat, but a recycled plastic hat!  I never would have noticed this little cutie before.

Simple idea: buy a hat made with eco conscious materials

To keep reading about the hat, scroll down two paragraphs.  To hear a funny side story, read here…

I logged into Amazon and searched “Eco Trucker Hat”.  The first listing to show up was this!  A hat (not eco friendly mind you) where someone had literally copied my kid’s tshirt design (but sloppily as you can see) and put it on a hat to sell!  And it says “I Save Dogs”.  Do you think they were donating to dogs?  Yeah, nope.

Say what?!  Right?!!  Those moments are super frustrating.  But I can’t let it stop me from trying to make a difference.  So back to “Eco Trucker Hats” I went (after asking Amazon to take it down of course ;-).

I found this one, and I’m in love with it.  This minimalist trucker hat is made by Love + Earth, a Global Green brand, and sold on Amazon.  It’s 55% hemp and 45% cotton.  The mesh is 100% recycled plastic.

Global Green is a nonprofit focused on sustainability.  They combine innovative research, community projects, and advocacy to make a difference.  Most of their focus seems to be in building sustainable cities.

If you’re interested in this cute trucker hat, you can find it here.  My favorite feature is that it is super lightweight and breathable.  I haven’t found myself hot in it at all.  Yet it has effectively kept my scalp from burning in the sun!  Clearly a win.  If you flip through our hiking posts, you’ll find it debuting in a lot of them!  Let me know if you try it out.
